New Palace is awesome historical place
situated in Kolhapur. It was constructed during 1877-1884. It has extensive
premises with a garden, fountain and wrestling ground. The clock is very old
and it was fixed in 1877.It is the residence of Shrimant Shahu Maharaj.
The ground floor of New place is the Shahaji Chhatrapati Museum. Many
tourists from across the country visit the New Palace. Thismuseum is open all
days save Monday, from 9.30AM to 6.00PM.In the museum collection of
games,jewellery,weapons of maharaja and other interesting photos of Chhtrapati
Shahu Maharaj. Also the one section has stuffed Tiger heads, Wild Dog, Deer and
HImalayan Black Bear. |
